This year’s Design Challenge Problem Statement will focus on Algorithmic Bias/AI Bias.  Teams will select an industry/solution area to identify the risks of AI Bias and how it may negatively affect specific populations. Based on the risks identified, teams will then propose solutions that can be utilized industry-wide to mitigate/eliminate the identified biases.  Students will be introduced to “Design Thinking” and the “Business Model Canvas” to enable them to focus on user outcomes in problem solving and the development of user centric solutions. 

Each Sponsor will provide a Technical Advisor to mentor the HBCU Student teams as they develop a Problem Statement and Solution. 

The first, second and third place team members and University will receive a monetary award. They will also be invited to attend and present at our 2024 AMIE Annual Conference hosted by NC A&T State University in Greensboro, NC on September 15 – 17, 2024.
