Gary Schneider has been in the technology industry since 1988 when he joined IBM as a software developer at the IBM Toronto Lab. He has held positions with progressively increased responsibility within Development, Business Partner Enablement, Marketing, and Business Development. In 1999, he ventured into the entrepreneurial space, leading a startup technology company specializing in digital media distribution for in-store advertising. In April 2001, he returned to IBM as Worldwide Director of Channel Development, responsible for worldwide strategic alliances and technical enablement for IBM’s Information Management (IM) division.
In March 2003, he was named Director of Linux Competitive Technology for IBM’s Information
Management business, responsible for business strategy and execution on emerging Linux platforms.
In January 2006, he was appointed Worldwide Director of Field Technical Presales and Sales Enablement. He was responsible for the Field Technical Sales community and overall sales training for
all IBM sellers on the IM portfolio.
In February 2010, Mr. Schneider was named CTO & Vice President of Technical Leadership for IBM's
Growth Markets Unit, based in Shanghai, China, responsible for driving technical sales, innovation, and technical & professional skills development across all growth market regions, including Australia, China, Central & Eastern Europe, South Korea, India, Latin America, Middle East & Africa, and Southeast Asia.
In 2015, he returned to the US as Global Vice President of Technical Sales for IBM Sales, leading a global community of 1000 technical professionals serving IBM’s top enterprise clients.
Most recently, Mr. Schneider was Vice President and Global Managing Executive for the Wipro strategic alliance, responsible for the strategic relationship and worldwide revenue of IBM technology to, through, and with Wipro. Mr. Schneider retired from IBM in July 2024 and is currently the owner and Chief Technology Consultant for Good Works Technology Inc., a private consultancy focused on helping small businesses and non-profit organizations leverage technology to accelerate their objectives.
